We've come a long way from tiny meetings, and small events or panels to a fabulous Islamic Awareness Week, a new interfaith prayer and meditation place with Muslim prayer rugs.... It has been fun working on capacity building, and networking to increase the number of students attending events. We have a regular 250 students for Friday prayer, and our events range from group cosponsorship to lecture series.
This year's cosponsoring groups were: Association of African Students, Student Leaders for Service, Student Veterans Association, the Jewish Student Association, Arab Persian Student Organization, the Saudi Student Club, and more!
Events this year include: Islamic Awareness Week, sponsoring "Wear a hijab day" at PSU and George Fox University in Newberg, OR, Islamic Trivia, Brothers' Basketball, Know Your Rights, Muslims in America- a panel, Stand Up For Peace, Sisters Talk Back Session and more....
Student outreach, and dawah tables have really helped inform Muslims about events, while telling our fellow students about Islam to get past misunderstandings.
We tackled issues to advocate for our fellow Muslims, women, prayer space, through collaboration and understanding with the help of faculty and students.

SubhanAllah! Thanks for all that you do/have done at PSU! I'm only sad that we wont attend at the same time, since I hear you're done now (mabrook btw!) I really really hope to get involved, even if very occasionally, when I finally start attending this year, insha'Allah.
I wasn't able to participate in the wear-a-Hijab day at George Fox, but I was on campus that whole day. It was good to see fellow students and faculty grow a little bit by talking with these students, and figuring out what it means for your faith to be very visible. It was a great experience to be around!
Congratulations on the success of your group, it is exciting!
